custom orders Tenzin Tsemé

Custom illustrations

Do you have a place that is particularly special to you, a home full of memories, or simply the desire to see a specially imagined world brought to life? I create custom illustrations in my graphic universe, based on your desires, your photographs and the story you wish to tell.

The aim is not to reproduce a photograph faithfully, as a technical architectural drawing would. I prefer to reinterpret places, playing with buildings, perspectives, details and colours to create an original work that keeps the spirit of the subject while bearing my artistic signature.

A personalised illustration can thus take as its starting point your family home, a village to which you are attached, a place discovered during a trip or even several elements that you would like to see brought together in a single composition. Together, we define the project before I begin creating.

Every commission is created entirely by hand as a unique piece. The format, complexity of the drawing and colour choices are defined according to the project so that the artwork naturally finds its place in my universe while also telling a little of your story.

What bespoke illustration can I create for you?

Every project starts with a story, a place or a desire. You can entrust me with a photograph as a starting point or simply tell me what you would like to find in your creation. The aim is not to obtain an exact copy, but a a bespoke illustration interpreted within my artistic style.

In particular, I can work from your home or a place that is dear to you, a village, a street, a building discovered while travelling or of several buildings that you wish to bring together. An old photograph can also serve as a starting point, provided that it clearly shows enough of the elements needed to create the illustration.

You can also entrust me with a more imaginative project. Based on a few guidelines, I can create a village or a unique architectural setting by incorporating certain elements that hold special significance for you. It is therefore more of a bespoke creation than an interpretation of an existing place.

As my work is recognisable by its architectural forms, its clusters of houses, its lines and its compositions, I carry out each commission in my own style. I do not, therefore, imitate the style of another artist, nor do I produce copies of existing works.

How does a bespoke order work?

The creative process begins with an initial discussion. You tell me about your project, the location you’d like illustrated or the world you’ve imagined. If you have any photographs, please send them to me so that I can understand the architecture, identify key details and think about the composition.

I then work with you to outline the broad outlines of your personalised illustration : subject, format, essential elements and overall feel. I will also provide you with the price for the project and an estimated completion time.

Once the order has been confirmed and payment has been made, I’ll start working on it. I’ll keep a degree of artistic freedom in my interpretation that is what allows your project to become a true Tenzin Tsémé artwork rather than a faithful reproduction of a photograph.

When the illustration is finished, I will send you a photograph of the piece before it is dispatched. This step allows you to see the final result, but it does not constitute a system of successive corrections: an original hand-made creation obviously cannot be modified like a digital file.

Your artwork is then carefully protected and packaged before being shipped. You will thus receive an original and unique illustration, created especially for you and which will not be offered for sale as an original work to anyone else.

What formats, prices and turnaround times are available for a bespoke illustration?

The format of your personalised illustration is determined by the project and the level of detail required for its completion. A single house, an architectural complex or a village designed specifically for you obviously do not require the same amount of work. We therefore choose the most suitable format together before the order is confirmed.

The price depends mainly on the format, the complexity of the composition and the work involved. As each project involves an original design, you will be given a quote before you confirm the order. This means you’ll know exactly how much the commission will cost before I start drawing.

Turnaround times may also vary depending on the complexity of the illustration and the orders already in progress at the studio. An estimated completion time will be provided during our initial discussions. If your illustration is for a birthday, a wedding or another special occasion, please do let me know when you make your enquiry so that I can let you know whether the project can be completed in time.

Any delivery charges are specified before the order is placed. The artwork is sent carefully packaged to ensure the drawing remains undamaged during transit.

What you need to know before ordering

A personalised illustration is an artistic creation produced especially for you. The photographs and information you provide serve as a starting point for my work, but the final result remains an interpretation within my own visual style. The perspectives, colours, certain details or the composition may therefore be deliberately adapted.

If you send me any photographs, please ensure that you have the right to use them for your project. They must also be clear enough for me to identify the buildings and features you would like to see included in the illustration.

Because each illustration is created specifically for you, customised orders are not covered by the right of withdrawal applicable to standard purchases, in accordance with the conditions set out for goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised. The detailed terms and conditions are set out in my general terms and conditions of sale.

The purchase of the original work does not transfer the copyright and reproduction rights. You are naturally free to display your artwork at home and give it to the person of your choice, but its reproduction, commercial exploitation or use to create other products remain subject to my permission.

Let's talk about your illustration project

Do you already have a clear idea or simply a place you would like to transform into an illustration? Write to me to present your project. A few lines are enough to begin: tell me the intended subject, your wishes and, if you have any, photographs that can serve as a starting point.

I will get back to you to let you know whether the project fits my style, to discuss its implementation with you and to provide you with the price and estimated timeframe prior to any order.
